July 5, 2020 By //  by Jennifer H Leave a Comment

Protein is necessary for building muscle as well as keeping a healthy weight and lifestyle. Protein helps the immune system stay strong as well as our skin and nails. Some proteins will be complete with all the amino acids while others are not. It’s critical that our protein comes from healthy sources. Whole grain rice with beans is one complete protein snack. Another is whole grain bread with peanut butter. There are a lot more listed and available online.

Key Takeaways:

  • Protein helps our muscles, bones, skin and nails, and also enables us to make hormones.
  • To calculate your daily protein needs in grams, multiply 0.8 by your weight in kilograms (which is pounds divided by 2.2).
  • Plant-based complete proteins include quinoa, buckwheat, hempseed and soybeans.

“This isn’t an exhaustive list, but if you are choosing these types of high-quality protein, you will be getting a healthy variety and all of your amino acids for optimal health.”
