Which Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements Boost The Immune System?

Which Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements Boost The Immune System?

April 3, 2020 By //  by Jennifer H Leave a Comment

Many vitamin and mineral supplements are effective in boosting your immune system. Vitamin C is frequently taken to help enhance bodily defenses against infection, while vitamin D3 is vital to the function of immune cells. Vitamin B6 and the fat-soluble vitamins A and E are similarly beneficial. As for minerals, zinc, iron and selenium all improve immune function. Aside from vitamins and minerals, turmeric (which contains curcumin) and elderberry syrup have immune-boosting properties. Note, however, that supplements are not a replacement for a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes.

Key Takeaways:

  • Vitamins A, B6, C, D3 and E all play important roles in boosting the immune system.
  • Perhaps the most beneficial supplement is Zinc, which protects against pneumonia and malaria.
  • Aside from vitamins and minerals, elderberry syrup, turmeric and holy basil supplements improve immune function.

“This fat-soluble vitamin is vital for maintaining healthy vision, supporting skin health and promoting proper growth and development.”
